Andrew Wendt and Ian Carswell, the founders of Be Realty, met in 2009 as young, motivated, career-focused and entrepreneurially inclined individuals while helping to lead the Young Professionals of Evanston organization. Ian had made his first foray into real estate investment in 2004 and Andrew’s career in Real Estate had begun in 2006. Their bond grew over a keen interest in real estate, real estate investing, the Cubs, Lakeview, barbeques and entrepreneurial ambitions!
This led to the launch of Be Realty, in 2012, as a residential real estate brokerage followed by the organic and purposeful growth into a four division brokerage which includes residential, property management, commercial and global real estate. Be Realty’s community of clients include investors, landlords, residential buyers and sellers, renters, commercial clients including Cannabis and multi unit investors, to global inbound and outbound clients.
Be Realty’s management team is composed of six multi-talented leaders, each bringing a successful track record and business acumen from related careers. Mikus Kins, SR VP and Managing Director of the Commercial and Global Divisions, is a capital markets veteran who has over 18 years of experience in both domestic and international financial markets working closely with alternative fund managers, banks, developers, and institutional and high net worth investors. Joe Sutton, Chief Financial Officer, has vast educational background and job experience that includes degrees in Accountancy and Finance from the University of Illinois. Joe spent 11 years at Morningstar Inc overseeing their growth from 24 to over 600 employees. Brian Miller, Director of Property Management, brings a celebrated work history and skill set that enhance his ability to manage and strategically grow the property management division of Be Realty. Brian’s combined management and legal background as an attorney help increase the value of this important division that has doubled in size in 2021. Lynn Wendt, Designated Managing Broker, believes that superior customer service, trust and respect are the best ways to build long-lasting relationships with clients, industry colleagues and business partners. Lynn joined Be Realty in 2013 after a 30 year career as an Information Technology (IT) project manager for fortune 500 companies. Ian Carswell, founder and managing director of Property Management, recently stepped down as a Sr VP for a company that was a global leader in patent and trademark research, and a provider of software services for intellectual property management to focus on the overall growth and management of Be Realty Management, the property management division, Be Realty residential and the overall growth and profitability of Be Realty including overseeing all Be Realty’s intellectual property. Andrew Wendt, founder and President of Be Realty, enhances Be Realty’s directions and growth with his 15 years of expertise in the industry including a strong development and construction background. Andrew uses his emotional acuity and communication skills to bring all of the talents of his colleagues together for the common goal of becoming an industry leader in the multi-faceted world of Real Estate. Over the course of his career, Andrew has helped hundreds of clients and been a part of over $100mm in real estate sales.
